Snow disruption and dental practice closures
30 January 2019
With the recent bad weather, and snow forecast for many parts of England, if you are in a position where it is not practical to open your practice due to the weather conditions, we advise dentists to be aware of the following:
- If possible, it will be better to have a local staff member at the practice to deal with patients who may need urgent or emergency care. They will be able to signpost patients.
- NHS practices must notify their Primary Care Organisation. Potentially you will be issued with a breach notice if you close the practice without notification.
- Signpost patients to an alternate provider and/or NHS 111. You can do this by updating both your website and phone line.
- If possible, place a notice in the door to signpost patients on how they can access care whilst the practice is closed.
