BDA launches student Social Media Reps initiative
25 October 2019
The BDA has recruited a new team of dental students from across the UK to help spread dentistry news and information via our social media channels. Our Social Media Reps will be on the lookout for interesting stories, clinical topics and hot tips, as well as social and networking opportunities, to share with dental students and younger dentists.
Fifth year dental student and BDA Social Media Rep, Komal Chopra, gives her five top tips for dentists using social media.

To unify UK dental students on social media, we have created our own hashtag #ukdentalstudent. This is for anything dental student related, clinical or social and we encourage all dental students to use it.
Our social media channels have a fast-growing audience, and are a popular way for dental students and dentists to find information and network.
We launched our Instagram channel earlier this year, and we now have nearly 3,000 followers – on this platform we are focusing on providing career development information and networking opportunities, mainly aimed at younger dentists, including our popular, 'What's it like being a…', a day in the life style blog series, showcasing the different paths dentists have taken in their careers.
Our Facebook page has nearly 25,000 followers and we provide those followers with regular updates on the BDA's political work and campaigns, as well as public health information, and our Twitter account now has over 23,000 followers, including a range of key political figures and other stakeholders.
If you'd like to find out more about the work our Social Media reps will be doing, or to get involved, please get in touch.
