The official representative body for Community and Salaried Dentsits in Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland Salaried Dentists Committee (NI SDC) negotiates on pay and conditions of service for dentists who are in the community and salaried dental services. The Committee is recognised by the Government as having the status and authority to negotiate on behalf of the dental profession on matters of terms and conditions of service and remuneration in the salaried dental services.

Committee meetings

The commitee usually meets three times per year. Members of the commtiee are also involved in ad hoc working parties and negotiations teams. To find out more, read reports of previous meetings here.

Who we are

Members are elected for three-year terms. The current NI SDC triennium runs from 2015-2018.  NI SDC provide the link between the BDA's membership and the policy decisions taken on their behalf. The current Chair of NI SDC is Grainne Quinn and the Vice Chair is Ruth Early.  Find out more about who represents salaried and commuinity dentists in Northern Ireland here.

NI SDC works closely with and advises the Committee of the Northern Ireland Division of the CDS Group.

Contract negotiations and agreement

Negoitations have taken place with the Department of Health Social Services and Public Safety and agreement on the new contract for the community dental services in Northern Ireland has been reached. NI CDS dentsits were balloted and the new contract has been approved, implemented from 1 April 2016.
