Tom graduated in 1982 and has followed an eclectic career pathway through general dental practice as a practice owner, primary care Oral Surgery, Maxfax, University teaching, work for the regulator, and finally convinced someone to give him a consultant NHS post. In fact, he has been known to say that the only thing not on the CV is the Army – but he did learn to drive a tank when at school! He has a long-standing interest in education within dentistry, the mis-diagnosis of facial pain and the non-surgical management of TMD and sat on the panel for the latest GIRFT/RCS guidance on treatment of TMD.
