Preventing and managing medical emergencies  

Session synopsis

A medical emergency could occur at any time within the dental setting. It is therefore essential that all members of the dental team can recognise, treat and effectively manage the situation. This session will examine the assessment process and common signs and symptoms.

Lecture filmed at the British Dental Conference and Exhibition 2015.

About the speaker

Peter Whiteford, Resuscitation Adviser, Medical Emergency Training

Peter qualified in 1997 as an RGN and spent several years in the hospital acute medical settings, including the Emergency Department. He moved into teaching resuscitation in 2003 where he gained a wide experience of training all levels of hospital staff as well as attending many emergencies and cardiac arrests. In 2008, he moved away from the NHS to form Medical Emergency Training which focuses on delivering resuscitation training to pre-hospital and private sector staff.
