What to expect

Ana Gamboa will explore the links between periodontitis and systemic diseases, underlying biological mechanisms, and the role of vitamin deficiencies. She will review periodontal treatment guidelines for medically compromised patients, examine the physical, psychological, social and economic impacts of disease, and highlight holistic approaches and key guidelines for general dental practitioners.

The lecture will support general dental practitioners in applying evidence-based guidelines and integrating systemic health considerations into everyday periodontal care.

The evening ends with the Section AGM (open to BDA members only).

Meet the speaker

Ana Gamboa Consultant Senior Lecturer in Periodontology, University of Bristol

Since 2019, Dr Ana Gambôa has held the position of Consultant Senior Lecturer in Periodontology at the University of Bristol and Bristol Dental Hospital. She plays a pivotal role in postgraduate and undergraduate education as the co-lead and founder of the MSc in Periodontology and subject lead for undergraduate teaching in the discipline. Clinically, Dr Gambôa maintains a busy practice. In addition to training restorative and mono-specialty trainees at Bristol Dental Hospital and leading the undergraduate teaching in periodontology, she works as a specialist periodontist in two private clinics, delivering advanced periodontal care.
