Raj Rattan MBE will share his personal reflections on the pursuit of happiness throughout a career in dentistry, exploring the paradox of success and the importance of ethical practice and professional fulfilment. To consider happiness as a lifelong journey, where meaning, purpose, and joy in the work contribute to lasting satisfaction.

Meet the speaker

Raj Rattan’s portfolio career includes over 30 years’ clinical experience. He owned and operated a small practice group and was Strategic Association Dean at the London Deanery. He has been an examiner for the FGDP and is a visiting professor of general dental practice at College of Medicine and Dentistry.
He has provided consultancy services to public and private sector organisations including the NHS, Denplan, dental corporates and the Department of Health where he previously served as a Policy Adviser. He is the author/co-author of a number of textbooks including a textbook on Law and Ethics. He in an international speaker on a variety of topics relating to general dental practice.
He was a part-time senior dento-legal consultant at Dental Protection before taking up his current role as Dental Director in 2016. In 2008, he was awarded an MBE for services to dentistry.
Raj’s hobbies and interest include creative writing, philosophy, motor sport and magic. He has been a member of the Magic Circle for over 30 years and was the recipient of the Hoffman Prize for his work and research on exposure in magic.
