What to expect

The aim of this session is to provide an update on current first aid guidelines, safe practices, and recommended responses to common medical emergencies.

Learning objectives

  • Recognise the early signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis
  • Understand the importance of rapid assessment and escalation
  • Demonstrate how to safely administer an auto-injector (e.g., EpiPen, Jext, Emerade) in line with current guidance
  • Know what to do after administering an auto-injector, including monitoring and handover to emergency services
  • Identify the signs of choking in adults, children, and babies
  • Apply the correct sequence of actions for a choking adult
  • Apply the correct sequence of actions for a choking baby, recognising the differences in technique and safety considerations
  • Understand when and how to escalate if the obstruction does not clear

Sam Kendall Founder and CEO of Kendall Training

Sam Kendall is the founder and CEO of Kendall Training, established in 2014 after eight years serving as an Emergency Medical Technician with East Midlands Ambulance Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service. Her frontline experience shaped not only her expertise, but her deep commitment to the people and communities she supports. Sam’s career has always been driven by passion, care, and real world experience. She brings authenticity to every room she steps into, drawing on years of emergency response to deliver training and leadership that is grounded, human, and genuinely impactful. Her approach centres on empowering others, building confidence, and ensuring that learning is accessible, inclusive, and meaningful. Today, Sam leads Kendall Training with the same values that inspired its creation—putting people first, raising standards, and championing a culture of care across workplaces nationwide.
