Meet the speaker

Esther Shirin

In 2016 Esther Shirin was riding high in her career as a GDP and private practice owner and was developing a referral practice for high-end removable prosthetics whilst being happily married with two daughters.

By 2026 she was a survivor of a nervous system breakdown, addiction and professional and personal loss.

After an 8-year case with the GDC, she has regained her dental licence and is aiming to go back into practice. She works within the medical and psychology schools at Leeds University which is at the forefront of providing students with direct access to those who have undergone similar issues and helps them to be better prepared to transition into working life, providing them with tools to help them withstand societal pressures.

Esther is about to publish her first book 'The Naked Soul of a Dentist... A bridge to awakening' and creating a company called 'Dr Esther' where she will offer online courses to health care professionals.

Esther wants to share her story, experiences and insights in the hope that it will help her fellow colleagues on their own life paths.
