Join your Wessex Branch colleagues for an informative clinical day of CPD and local networking.
Subir Banerji and Shamir B. Mehta will enhance clinicians’ understanding of the aetiology and clinical assessment of tooth wear, and provide a structured approach to its restorative management, using
evidence-based occlusal principles.

The lecture explores the causes and classification of tooth wear, diagnostic criteria, and comprehensive management strategies. It includes current occlusal concepts and their practical application in restorative rehabilitation.

Meet the speakers

Subir Banerji
Shamir B. Mehta


Subir Banerji

Subir qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from The University of Newcastle Upon Tyne Dental School, UK. He completed an advanced course in Restorative Dentistry at The Eastman Dental Hospital London, and his Masters in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) training was undertaken at the University of London. He completed his PhD from King's College London.

He has university affiliations with King's College London Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, University of Portsmouth, School of Dental, Health & Care Professions (UK) and University of Melbourne, Melbourne Dental School (Australia).

He teaches postgraduate dental surgeons at all levels around the world and is a national and international Examiner for university based undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

He conducts research with his MSc & PhD students at King's College London Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences and has published in peer reviewed international journals. He is the founder of the Academy of Dental Excellence (ADE: www.adelogin.com).

Shamir B. Mehta

Shamir qualified from King’s College London (KCL) in 1996, attained a Master’s in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) from the University of London (2005) and a Doctorate Degree from Radboudumc, The Netherlands (Medical Sciences, Tooth wear) in 2021.

Currently he is the Programme Director of the MSc in Aesthetic Dentistry course at KCL, the Lead Clinical Adviser to the General Dental Council (Fitness to Practice), a dental practice owner in London, a Visiting Professor (PhD supervisor) RadboudUMC, and Editorial Director of the Aesthetic Update.

He has published numerous peer reviewed publications, including research on Tooth Wear, has also co-authored/ co-edited two textbooks, on Tooth Wear and Aesthetic Dentistry. Shamir has also written several book chapters and is a panel member for the European Expert Consensus Panel on Severe Tooth Wear. He has lectured at several conferences, in the UK and internationally.
