We exist to support dentists, and it is important to look after your emotional wellbeing. That is why we have revamped our wellbeing section: There is counselling and support, courses, and reading to help you through tough times.
This week is Mental Health Awareness Week, an annual initiative led by the Mental Health Foundation. This year the emphasis is on the importance of community and having strong connections with other people.
We know isolation can be a challenging aspect of being a dentist. Our network of over 60 local branches and sections offers an invaluable opportunity to socialise, learn, and connect with other dentists in your local area.
If you are a member and would like 1:1 support on a specific issue impacting your life, you can access Health Assured, providing confidential counselling on issues affecting your professional or personal life.
Everyone can access our comprehensive list of external support organisations. Find services specific to dentists and medical staff nationwide or near where you live. There is also a selection of organisations that specialise in mental health support for all professions.
We have also compiled a wide selection of further reading and educational materials on wellbeing from interviews to articles, and links to courses on wellbeing for members and non-members.
Everyone deserves good mental health, so don’t suffer in silence if you are feeling stressed. Dentists do an invaluable job in society, and we are here to help support you in balancing the demands of the job with self-care.
