We have branches in the east, west, and north of Scotland with several area-specific sections.
Holding a role in a branch or section can help you to build your network and contacts across the local area and provide support to you throughout your career. Branches and sections are also a great way to give back to the profession and use your influence in a positive way to make sure that your voice is heard.
The East Scotland Branch have an evening event with the BSPD coming up on 2 October 2023 about Molar-Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH) aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding of MIH and the treatment options available. The West Scotland branch also have several upcoming evening events including monitoring, measuring and understanding sustainability in a dental practice on 25 October 2023, water fluoridation in Scotland on 15 November 2023, and restorative dentistry - improving patient outcomes on 17 January 2024.
If you are interested in joining and finding out more, you will be automatically assigned a branch based on your postal address, but you can receive details from other branches and sections if they are closer to where you work. Members and non-members from other areas are also welcome to join in at meetings and can sign up to receive updates via email.
Brian Quinn, Secretary, Northern Counties Branch said: "After seeing how much of an impact the branch can have at a local level, I was even more assured I made the right decision to join. Most recently, I have been appointed as Secretary - a role which I thoroughly enjoy. Being a part of the Branch also allows me to network with local dental professionals, keeps me up to date in dental politics and has presented job opportunities. Whether you're a BDA member or not, I would highly recommend that you get involved in your local group - even if that just means attending events!".
The branches and sections network are always looking for enthusiastic members who would like to join. A role with your local branch or section is a great way to get involved with our activities and help to provide and shape local educational and networking events. If you are interested in getting involved email the Local Services Team [email protected] or call 020 7563 4590.
