Comprehensive dental conference in South Wales and an evening on anterior composites

June: The South Wales Dental Conference

The South Wales Dental Conference is an informative annual event boasting a wide range of speakers and topics, with the objective of attaining excellence in everyday practice. Stay up to date with the latest developments in dentistry and meet a range of other professionals in your field. 

There is something for every dentist and dental care professional as the topics range from detecting cancers to management of endodontic-periodontal lesions. The thought-provoking topics are broken up by three refreshment breaks with an opportunity to look around the trade exhibition. 

Petros Mylonas, Branch President for the South Wales Branch says: “I'm really looking forward to showcasing the breadth of expertise across the UK to all our attendees here in Wales, I'm hoping everyone will enjoy the event and more importantly meet new friends and colleagues. 

On Friday, the first speaker is Avijit Banerjee on Minimum Intervention Oral Care and an exploration of caries prevention in primary care. His talk is followed by Shannu Bhatia on Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation. The morning is wrapped up by Rui Albuquerque speaking about oral potentially malignant disorders and the role of primary care in treating them. 

After lunch, Sue Stokes, Chair of the Cardiff and Southeast Wales Section will speak about human factors in dentistry. She said: “This exciting and innovative educational event provides an excellent opportunity for networking for all members of the dental team.”  

The final speaker of the day is Liam Addy who will tell us more about dental oncology and the GDP’s role in restorative management of oncology patients. 

On Saturday, David Johnson will give a lecture about dental acupuncture. He is followed by Alyn Morgan on demystifying endodontics and successful approaches to take. Next, we will hear from Rhiannon Jones about how to improve your perio. The first speaker of the afternoon is Emily Lu on clinical decision making and management of endodontic-periodontal lesions. Then we have key money advice for dentists in practice. 

The conference will take place on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 June 2024 at the Parkgate Hotel, Cardiff 09:00 – 17:00. You can attend both days, just Friday or Saturday. Please book before Friday 14 June to ensure your place.

September: Swansea and West Wales Section - Anterior composites

Later this year, at the Swansea and West Wales Section anterior composites evening event, speaker Sid Gupta will cover smile design and anterior tooth morphology; effective rubber dam isolation techniques; simple and complex layering techniques and the uses of photography in diagnosis and reflection. 

Sid Gupta is an enthusiastic member of the dental community who has a passion for professional discourse and continuous learning. There will be an extensive question and answer session with him after the lecture. The event will be held on Thursday 26 September 2024 at the Village Hotel and Leisure Club, Swansea 19:00 – 21:00.
