BDA Northern Ireland welcomes clarification on SDR ‘fee errors’

30 July 2019

BDA Northern Ireland has welcomed clarification from the Department of Health that GDPs will not suffer any financial loss as a result of fee errors detected in the recently updated SDR, following application of the 2018/19 uplift.

We have recently written to the Department to seek assurances that no general practitioner would be penalised in consequence of the errors. In a written response, the Department has confirmed:

’As on previous similar occasions where inconsistencies were identified, there will be no recoupment of overpayments, and underpayments will be made good’

Chair of the Northern Ireland Dental Practice Committee, Richard Graham said:

“Our position is that no practitioner should suffer financially as a result of errors made by the Department of Health. We welcome the assurances confirming this will indeed be the case and continue to work to ensure our members are not adversely affected.”
