Greig Taylor Clinical Lecturer and Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry, Newcastle University

Greig Taylor (Greig) is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer and specialist in Paediatric Dentistry at Newcastle University. Greig graduated BDS(Hons) in 2012 from University of Glasgow and has since gone on to complete a Masters in Clinical Research (with distinction) and his specialist M Paed Dent in 2019. He successfully defended his PhD in 2022, entitled the DECIDE study “Dental ExtraCtion versus filling In adult teeth: an economic evaluation”, which was funded by a prestigious National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Doctoral Research Fellowship. Greig’s main research interests focuses on addressing the lack of evidence currently available for the pathways relating to child’s oral health, focusing on molar incisor hypomineralisation and dental trauma, as well as using economic evaluation methodologies to address these issues. Greig has published and presented nationally and internationally in these areas and was co-author on the most recent European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry: Best clinical practice guidelines for MIH and Royal College of Surgeons of England guideline for the Extraction of First Permanent Molars in Children. He is currently an associate-editor for the European Archives of Paediatric Dentistry and is the president-elect of the Paediatric Oral Health Research group of the International Association of Dental Research.
