What to expect

This half day hands-on workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to perform microsuturing techniques in surgical dentistry, enabling atraumatic soft tissue management, improved wound closure, and enhanced postoperative healing outcomes.

Learning objectives

  • Describe the principles of wound healing and the rationale for microsurgical approaches in dentistry 

  • Identify and select appropriate microsurgical instruments, needles, and suture materials for different clinical applications

  • Demonstrate correct ergonomic positioning and the use of magnification during surgical procedures

  • Apply atraumatic soft tissue handling techniques to minimise tissue trauma

  • Perform common micro suturing techniques, including simple interrupted, mattress, and continuous sutures

  • Achieve tension-free wound closure and optimal tissue adaptation in simulated surgical scenarios

  • Implement appropriate infection prevention and control measures during surgical procedures

  • Evaluate the clinical advantages of micro suturing techniques and incorporate these principles into everyday surgical dental practice.
