Senior Clinical Lecturer, Course Lead MSc Oral Surgery

Peter is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a special interest in facial trauma, orthognathic surgery and oral medicine. He lectures on Oral Diseases and Oral Surgery to undergraduates and postgraduates. He is also a Responsible Officer overseeing the appraisal and revalidation of doctors in his NHS Trust. He was Medical Director at the Trust and managed the hospital's clinical response to the Grayrigg train derailment in 2007 and the Swine Flu Pandemic in 2009. He has an interest in the history of medicine and dentistry and recently appeared on Radio 4's, "The Origin of Stuff, History of the Toothbrush". He co-curated an exhibition at the British Dental Association in London (2019) about "Eric Cooper, Colditz Dentist". Peter is a co-editor of The Handbook of Immediate Care and has published chapters on facial trauma in eight textbooks.

Senior Clinical Lecturer, Course Lead MSc Periodontology

Flavio has long experience in PG and UG Periodontology teaching in different Universities in Italy and in the UK. His main expertise is focused in biology and advanced surgical techniques in periodontal regeneration and soft tissue management around teeth and implants. He supervises PG research projects and systematic reviews in the discipline. Flavio has been a keynote speaker to different National and International Conferences in oral surgery and periodontology. He has actively published more than 19 peer-reviewed publications, two textbooks and 30 conference acta. He held an Adjunct Professor position at different Italian Universities, a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester, a Professoriate in Periodontology at the College of Medicine and Dentistry and actually is a Visiting Professor at the University of Bari since 2018.

Kate teaches all aspects of undergraduate and postgraduate oral surgery and oral diseases. Kate completed her academic oral and maxillofacial surgery (AACOMS) in the Yorkshire region in 2013 and has expertise in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery. She has a special interest in managing anxious patients and in the management of medical emergencies in dental practice. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Kate is a member of the Teaching sub-committee of ABAOMS and is President of the Association of Academic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has been co-author of a number of leading publications in undergraduate oral surgery education. She is reviewer for the Journal of Oral Surgery and has published extensively on medical emergency management.

Kate was awarded the Lady Estelle Wolfson Fellowship (RCS England) and performs a number of college roles. She is an examiner for Membership in Oral Surgery, ISFE Oral Surgery and MOMS (membership in oral and maxillofacial surgery).
