Meet the speaker

Abhishek Parolia

Dr. Abhishek Parolia currently serves as Associate Professor, Research Director, and Director of Predoctoral Sophomore in the Department of Endodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics, Iowa City, USA. A gold medalist in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics from Manipal University, he brings over nineteen years of expertise in micro-endodontic practice and the mentorship of emerging dental professionals. He previously held the role of Associate Dean for Postgraduate, Continuing Education, and Research at the International Medical University (IMU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he also earned his PhD. Dr. Parolia is a member of the American Association of Endodontists and the International Association of Dental Research, and is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (FDS RCPS) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FDS RCS). He also serves as an Examiner for the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery (MFDS) at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. His accolades include research incentive awards from Manipal University (2010, 2011), Best Newcomer (2011), recognition for leading the ICDAS initiative (2014), the E-learning Innovation Award and Best Lecturer Nomination (2016) from IMU, Best Faculty Presentation at the International Association of Dental Research (2017), and awards for developing a new postgraduate program in Endodontics, long service (2022), and Teaching Innovation (AMEE Glasgow 2023, Team Category). His clinical interests encompass micro-endodontics, disinfection, retreatment, regeneration, vital pulp therapies, clinical audit, and governance. Dr. Parolia has authored over 90 peer-reviewed scientific papers and six textbook chapters. He serves as Guest Editor for the Dentistry Journal, Associate Editor for the Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics Journal, and as a reviewer for numerous journals including the Australian Endodontic Journal, Clinical Oral Investigations, European Endodontic Journal, PLOS One, Scientific Reports, Italian Endodontic Journal, Archives of Oral Biology, BMC Oral Health, Journal of Dental Education, European Journal of Dental Education, European Journal of Dentistry, and is a Reviewer Editor for Frontiers in Dental Medicine. He has conducted hands-on training workshops and delivered lectures internationally, including in the USA, Japan, Singapore, Brazil, Hong Kong, Dubai, India, Lebanon, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Belgium, Egypt, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Australia, and Canada.
